Planning a trip
Create a trip
- On Home, tap One Destination (one country or destination) or Multi-Country Journey (a route across several countries).
- Sign in if Trouble asks you to. Trips are saved to your account.
- Answer the questions: where, when, how many days and people, and what you enjoy.
- Choose Plan with AI or Build It Yourself, then follow the steps.
A new trip counts towards your plan’s trip allowance as soon as it starts. Your plan also sets the maximum number of days and countries.
Plan with AI or Build It Yourself
- Plan with AI: Trouble picks the areas, the route, the nights in each place and a plan for the morning, noon and evening of every day, from your answers.
- Build It Yourself: you choose the areas and places yourself and Trouble puts them into days. On Trouble Free it is limited to one area and a few days.
Either way you get the same trip: Days, Activities, Services, maps, expenses and a packing list, all editable afterwards on a paid plan.
Multi-Country Journey
- On Home, tap Multi-Country Journey.
- Choose AI Journey (Trouble chooses the countries, cities and route from your preferences) or Build It Yourself (you choose the countries and cities, in your own order).
- If a city’s days are not planned yet, open its card and tap Build My Daily Itinerary.
Multi-country trips need Trouble+ (up to 3 countries) or Trouble Pro (longer trips with more countries). A multi-country trip counts as one trip.
A trip stopped building or failed
If you leave while a trip is building, or the connection drops, the days that finished are kept. Open the trip and tap Continue Building Trip: Trouble builds only the missing days and it does not use another trip.
Very long or unusual requests can occasionally fail. Try again, or plan a shorter trip and extend it with the editing tools.
Editing
Edit Route, Manage Days and Edit day
- Edit Route: change the order of your stops, the number of days in each area, and add, replace or remove an area. Drag a stop, or use the arrow buttons.
- Manage Days: reorder, adjust or remove days, or add a day to an area.
- Edit day: change the activities of one day, replace an activity, or undo a change before you save.
- Regenerate: ask Trouble to plan a day again.
Editing is included with Trouble+ and Trouble Pro. On a shared trip, only one person can edit the route or a given day at a time (see Plan together).
Notes, expenses and packing list
Every trip has private notes, an expenses list (you can attach a receipt photo) and a packing list with ready-made templates. Private notes and expenses are never included in a view-only share link. People you invite to plan together can see and edit the notes, expenses and packing list.
Sharing and planning together
Save a trip someone shared with you
When you open a view-only link in the app, tap Save to My Trips to keep it in My Trips. It stays a read-only copy, stored on your device. To edit it, use Remix.
Remix a shared trip
Remix this trip creates your own independent copy in your account that you can edit freely. It never changes the original, and the owner’s later changes do not update your copy. Remix is included with Trouble+ and Trouble Pro.
Plan together (collaboration)
Collaboration puts people in the same trip, so everyone plans one shared version. It is different from a view-only link, which only lets people look.
- Open the trip, tap the ⋯ menu, choose Share, then Invite a collaborator.
- Invite by Email: Trouble emails them a Join Trip link. Or Share Invite Link: send the link yourself.
- You can resend or revoke an invite, turn the invite link off, remove someone, or Stop collaboration at any time.
Collaborators can see and edit that trip only, including its notes, packing list and expenses. Your other trips are never shared. Only you, the owner, can delete the trip or manage who has access. How many people can join depends on your plan.
Join a trip you were invited to
- Open the invite link from the email or message. On a phone, tap Open in Trouble.
- Sign in or create an account. Trouble remembers the invite while you sign in.
- Tap Join Trip.
- An email invite works only for the address it was sent to. If Trouble says it was sent to another address, sign in with that account.
- Joining as an editor needs Trouble+ or Trouble Pro on your own account too.
- Email invites expire 14 days after they were last sent; ask the owner to resend. A link that was turned off no longer works.
- To leave, choose Collaborators in the trip’s ⋯ menu and tap Leave trip. The trip stays with everyone else.
Live edits and “someone is editing”
Changes appear for everyone on the trip as they are saved, with a short note saying who made them. The Collaborators sheet also lists recent changes.
While someone edits the route or a particular day, others see who is editing and wait until they finish. If the trip changed while you were editing, Trouble shows you the latest version.
Hotels, food, tours and travel services
Hotels, restaurants and tours
Open the trip’s Services tab, pick Hotels, Restaurants or Tours, and choose an area. Results show five at a time; tap Load More for more, or use Filters and sort.
- Hotels come from Google Places. A nightly price marked Estimated is an AI estimate, not a quote. View Booking Options opens Booking.com, where you check the real price and availability and book.
- Restaurants come from Google Places. Save favourites to the trip.
- Tours come from Viator. Add to Day puts a tour into your plan; Book on Viator opens it on Viator to book.
Bookings are made with the partner, not with Trouble. Some of these are affiliate links.
Car rental
In Services, open Car Rental, choose where you want to pick up the car, and tap Search Rental Cars. DiscoverCars opens with that location; enter your dates and book there. You can also compare on GetRentACar. Trouble saves your search with the trip.
eSIM data plans
In Services, open eSIM to see Airalo data plans for the countries in your trip. Choosing a plan opens Airalo, where you buy and install it. Check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked before you buy.
Plans and purchases
Plans, purchases and Restore purchases
- Buy a plan from the Plans screen in the app. Payment is handled by the App Store (or Google Play).
- Trouble+ is a one-time purchase. Trouble Pro and No Ads are subscriptions that renew until you cancel.
- New phone or reinstalled? Sign in to your Trouble account and tap Restore purchases (on the Plans screen or in your profile), using the same store account you bought with.
- Cancel a subscription in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it.
- Refunds are handled by the store.
Account, sign-in and privacy
Your account and syncing
Sign in with email and password, Google, or Sign in with Apple. Your trips sync to every device where you sign in to the same account. Tap your initial on Home to open your profile and settings: theme, language, currency, accessibility, linked accounts and sign out.
Trips not syncing? Check that you are signed in to the same account on each device and have a connection, then reopen the app. An Offline badge means changes will sync when you are back online.
Confirm your email address
After you create an account with email and password, Trouble sends a confirmation email from [email protected]. Open the link on your phone: it opens Trouble and finishes creating your account. If you opened it somewhere else, just sign in.
No email? Check spam, then tap Resend Email (you can resend after a short wait). If a link has expired, request a new one.
Reset your password
- On the sign-in screen, enter your email and tap Forgot password?.
- Open the reset email on the same phone. The link opens Trouble.
- Choose a new password and tap Update Password, then sign in.
The link only works on the phone that asked for it, and only once. If it has expired, ask for a new one. Accounts that sign in only with Google or Apple have no Trouble password: use that button instead.
Change your email address
If you sign in with email and password, open your profile, go to Account and tap Change Email. Enter the new address and open the confirmation link we send; you may also be asked to confirm from your current address. Your email changes once the link is opened.
Change Email is not shown for accounts that sign in only with Google or Apple, because the address belongs to that provider. Change it with Google or Apple instead.
Link Google or Apple to your account
Open your profile and go to Linked accounts. Tap Link account next to Google (or Apple, on iPhone and iPad) and complete that sign-in. From then on, any linked method opens the same account.
- Sign-in methods are linked only through a verified sign-in. Trouble never joins two accounts just because their email addresses match.
- Our sign-in provider can connect a Google or Apple sign-in to an existing account when both have verified the same email address.
- A Google or Apple account that already belongs to a different Trouble account cannot be linked. Sign in with it instead.
- Trips are not moved between two separate accounts.
Delete your account
Open your profile, go to Account, tap Delete account and confirm with Delete everything. Your account, trips, receipts and share links are deleted permanently. Subscriptions are not cancelled automatically.
Privacy and your data
- Trouble does not use your device’s location.
- Trip requests are sent to OpenAI to write itineraries, without your name, email or account ID.
- Ads on Free and Trouble+ are non-personalised. This website has no analytics or advertising cookies.
- We do not sell your personal data.
